After lunch, our coach took us to Oconaluftee Indian Village in Cherokee, North Carolina, where a proud, friendly and knowledgeable Cherokee guide shared the history and living culture of her people.
The village recreates a Cherokee town of 1750, where contemporary Cherokee people demonstrate traditional arts including basket weaving, wood carving, pottery and cooking. We also enjoyed seeing the bear dance playfully performed, bringing another lively element of Cherokee tradition to the experience.
